A weekly 2-hour live session with training from our mentor team. Covering After Effects exercises, traditional animation principles, design principles, and production techniques. Mentors alternate hosting the weekly live session.

Weekly Written Critique

Each week you’ll receive detailed, written critique via the Frame.io media review platform. This way you can store notes and catalog the process of creating your original works.

Each week your mentor will host a live session which includes a lecture, critique and Q&A time.
All sessions are recorded and are available for immediate download after the session aired.

Michael Jones is an animator, designer and VFX artist. He is also the founder of MoGraph Mentor and has a passion for creating clear and detailed, educational materials for motion designers everywhere. Michael emphasizes the role of core disciplines in the development of every motion designer. Without an understanding of art, design, and animation, a modern artist may be relegated to the status of technician.

These guest interviews will take place within the weekly live session, after the lecture and demo for that week. This will be an opportunity for Q&A for some of the industry’s best. The focus of these discussions will be on process and career development. Our goal with this mentorship is to help make you a better artist and more prepared professional.

Animation Planning & Principles
Create a foundation of good animation theory to build on.

We start with animation principles as the foundation for making good animation. A focused look at animating in After Effects with the graph editor. How animation principles work in the context of using Adobe After Effects. And we’ll also look at generating concepts for your own original animation.

Live session with Zoom

We use Zoom for our live class sessions. You do not need to make an account to be able to attend a meeting. Class links will be sent to you via Discord or email. Just click the meeting link to join!
Chat with mentors in Discord
To help make each session more engaging, we use the instant message application, Discord. Using free accounts we can set-up a common chat, as well as private channels and private groups for each class.
Written critique on Frame.io
Each week you’ll receive detailed, written critique via the Frame.io media review platform. This way you can store notes and catalog the process of creating your original works.
Upload your project in Dropbox

We use Dropbox as this program’s server. You will turn in your weekly deliverables as well as share scene files through dropbox. Install the free 2gb account, which will be plenty of space.
