Advanced Visual Storytelling – 9 Week Intensive Mentorship1
We have decided to re-work Art Direction & Creative Execution and Advanced Visual Storytelling
and create new Learning Paths which include our full range of courses.
We are a small team of passionate artists actively working on new mentorship experiences and on-demand training to best serve our motion design community. We believe our new approach will help us better serve the diversity of styles and career paths that exist in our industry.
Our learning paths will start with our flagship mentorship class, “Introduction To Design & Animation”. This is our foundational mentorship class and is designed to teach you the fundamental principles you need to continue your growth into the industry. Instead of moving on to Art Direction & Creative Execution or Advanced Visual Storytelling, we encourage you to take one of our other, more specific workshops. Motion Design is a broad industry and we want students to pursue the portfolio that makes sense for them and their career goals.

Introduction To Visual Storytelling
How do we most effectively tell stories with sight & sound?
We start this class with a distinction between narrative visual storytelling using traditional filmmaking techniques, and abstract visual storytelling using a different creative process. On the one hand, storyboarding, writing and editing, versus discovery, generative art and experimentation.
During week one you will:
Watch Week 1 Videos
Attend Livestream W/ Abstract Visual Storytelling Focus
Turn In Your Assignment By End Of Thursday
Receive Written Feedback By End Of Saturday
We encourage all beginners to start with Introduction To Design & Animation mentorship before taking this course, unless you are more experienced.
Busting my ass in the course and you guys sharing my work has been phenomenal. I can’t tell you how much it means to me to have been put in touch with Lucas via Mograph Mentor. I had always admired his work, but I got to know him as a person and talk about what he was up to and establish a real relationship.

What’s great about this program is no one is sitting here holding my hand teaching me how to use a piece of software that may or may not be irrelevant 5-10 years from now. Mograph Mentor is changing the way I think and the way I approach projects.

Mograph Mentor is just the best. I was very unsure about my work and process in general. Now I know what to do and how to do it. I’m proud and very motivated. Thank you mentors!

Getting critique from a trained professional, really helps to find what kind of things to focus on. I’ve had a lot of, “Aha” moments when the mentor pointed things out to me.

I have far more confidence in my abilities as a motion designer than three months ago. The thought process I have now for starting a project has completely changed and I feel I have a more diverse skill set because of the program.

I love the access we have to such great designers; the interaction I have with them has inspired me so much and I feel like I’m becoming part of their community. The cherry on the pie for me was the attention I had from my mentor and my admissions counselor, Christal.

The community is a huge part of the program. There is a lot of interaction and its a great resource for technical questions or just sharing inspiration.

The mentors helped so much with great creative feedback, that would force you to think critically instead of giving you the answer to a design or animation problem.

I think the strongest point in the program is really the learning by doing, plus having an industry professional giving you feedback step by step to make your project even better is just incredible. I can’t think of a better way of teaching this area to people.

I think everyone needs a mentor, no matter how much or how little experience you have. Someone to push you & someone to encourage you. Someone to make you think. And someone that truly cares about making you better. I know I got that and more through Mograph Mentor, and I highly recommend it. I could not be more pleased.
