About the Speakers:
AMY HITE, DNP, APRN, FNP-C Amy Hite graduated from Pittsburg State University, Pittsburg, Kansas, in 1996 with a BSN and in 2000 with an MSN Family Nurse Practitioner degree. She is certified as FNP by AANP and ANCC, certified in Orthopedics by the National Association of Orthopaedic Nurses, and completed the Doctorate of Nursing Practice with an emphasis in Advanced Practice from the University of Kansas School of Nursing, May 2011. Her current position is Assistant Professor at the Pittsburg State University, Department of Nursing. She is employed part time at PSU Student Health Services, specializing in orthopedic patients and primary care. Amy also does Legal Nurse Consulting. PAUL M. LEVY, MSN, BS, RN, ONC Paul M. Levy is a Registered Nurse with certification in Orthopaedic Nursing. Throughout his career, he has specialized in Orthopedics, specifically Total Joint Replacement Surgery, Sports Medicine, and Musculoskeletal Oncology. Paul has worked on post-operative orthopedic units, serving as a staff nurse, charge nurse, preceptor, and mentor. In Paul’s current role as Clinical Education Specialist for Orthopedics and Emergency Medicine at a hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, he is responsible for staff development and training, coordinates the Geriatric Fracture Program and the Crisis Management Training. In addition to his years of training experienced orthopedic staff, Paul has also developed an “Ortho for Non-ortho Nurses” program to help resource pool, staff, and new orthopedic nurses better understand orthopedic care. He also developed an Orthopedic Reference Guide for nurses to assist staff when orthopedic patients are admitted “off-service.” About the Author: CYNDI ZARBANO, MSN, BSN, CCRN, CEN, PCCN, CMSRN, CLNC, NLCP Cyndi Zarbano is an intensive care nurse with over 20 years of nursing experience who is currently practicing in the Twin Cities area of Minnesota. She is a nationally-recognized seminar speaker who has opened multiple national symposiums and speaks on several topics for PESI, as well as a variety of other companies in the US and Canada. In addition to her speaking engagements, Cyndi is a published author with a variety of books including Clinical Nursing Assessment Skills Pocket Guide and the Medical Surgical Nurses Pocket Guide. Her products also include textbooks, webcasts and webinars. Along with her MS and BSN in nursing, she has 3 other undergraduate degrees and multiple nursing certifications. She served as a US Naval Officer for 10 years, leaving service as an LCDR (Lieutenant Commander) in 2001. Prior to nursing, she worked as a counselor with the mentally ill and dangerous in a facility in southern Minnesota. She returned to that facility as a Lead Psychiatric Nurse for two years after leaving the military. Additionally, Cyndi has a legal nurse consulting business and continues to serve as a testifying expert in medical related cases. Cyndi’s teaching style is dynamic and high energy while informal and easy to understand. You will leave her program with a renewed commitment to achieving nursing excellence in critical care.
