If you are an absolute beginner in drawing, this can be a perfect choice for your first drawing course. Or if you are not a beginner, but have difficulties with your drawings, you are probably missing some of the basic puzzles that can be easily solved in these lessons.

This course does not require any prior knowledge of drawing or special drawing equipment.
We will draw with a simple traditional graphite pencil on ordinary paper.

The first section is a kind of introduction to drawing.
I’ll show you

the drawing tools you need

optional tools for the future

how to hold the pencil for a better drawing experience

how to see the world with the eyes of the artist

In the second section we will go through the basic building blocks of the drawing. We will develop your basic drawing skills by doing many fundamental drawing exercises.

You will learn to draw

straight

parallel lines

simple 2D shapes like triangles, rectangles and squares

curves

circles, ovoid shapes and ellipses

simple 3D objects like cubes and cylinders

We will also develop your hand coordination by connecting points with straight and curved lines.

The goal of these lessons is to gain confidence by drawing these simple elements that we will use to build more complex objects.

I will give you an introduction to perspective drawing by discussing the most commonly used 2-and 3-point perspective. I will also explain an important principle of drawing called foreshortening. With this knowledge you will be able to draw subjects convincingly in 3D space.

In the third section we will put into practice the drawing skills you have learned. We will make all kinds of sketches on real life topics based on reference photos. Let’s draw

a fish using a bunch of curves S

a profile portrait to practice proportions
