You can stop worrying about playing for the advantages, or being an easy target for a top player, once you have Renato’s signature armbar series’ down.
Double your returns on the armbar by learning some of the most valuable moves Renato uses; passing directly into the armbar threat. The easiest time to attack is right after a different attack just worked, your opponent is still resetting themselves to a new, worse position and you have a little gap to work with. Why not take that opportunity, instead of settling in and pressuring down on someone, to get to the arm and end the match? Sound easier said than done? It’s all possible, and Renato Canuto’s signature pass-armbar combinations have proven to be the difference makers in a lot of big matches. Turn your favorite pass into a crushing joint lock with just a few simple adjustments that Renato has mastered!

So What Exactly Is On This Series?
Arm Lock From Closed Guard With Over Hook
#1
Renato is in the closed guard and he is going to break his opponents collar grip in search of establishing an overhook. Renato has several ways to break this grip.
#2
Renato has solidified the overhook and he has created an angle by hip escaping towards the overhooked arm. With this control he is going to search for the arm lock
#3
Renato has now done a pendulum motion with his leg to drastically change is angle. This will allow him to search for the arm bar. Notice that he has maintained the over hook.
#4
Now Renato has swung his body over the arm to end up in an inverted arm lock. The leg that he had used in a pendulum motion has helped him generate the momentum to change his body positioning and get the inverted arm bar.
